Maria Myers, certified parent coach

My story

I didn't set out to become a parent coach

My path to coaching began during my own parenting journey, when I often felt isolated and unsure of where to turn. Somewhere between a career in human services and becoming a spouse & fortunately a parent, I discovered how much I love raising and connecting with teenagers. Today, I feel fortunate to be experiencing these years alongside my own kids.  Even with professional training in conflict management, I still found myself living in a home filled with too much tension—slammed doors, strained relationships, and conversations that seemed to go sideways before they even began. I was doing everything I believed a caring parent should do, yet it wasn’t working.

My passion is to walk alongside people through hard years, without judgment. Parenting teenagers can be incredibly challenging, and no parent or caregiver should have to navigate it alone. Those experiences sent me searching for a better way. My search has become a years-long journey of reading, listening to parents and training with respected voices in adolescent development. What I learned transformed more than my relationship with my children. It changed how I understood myself—as a person.

Today, I bring that training and hard-earned life experience to the families I work with. I don't come to you as someone who has all the answers. I come as someone who understands how difficult this season can feel, has walked a similar path, and can help you find the way forward that feels right for your family. It's going to be okay.

My approach

Boundaries, no judgement and empathy for all

"Teenagers don't need perfect parents. They need present ones."

My coaching is grounded in the belief that most parent-teen conflict is really a disconnection problem — not a discipline problem. When we focus on rebuilding trust and communication, the hard stuff gets easier. I draw on attachment theory, positive discipline, and nervous system science to help parents show up in ways that actually land with their teens.
